Privacy Policy

Al Butler ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Data We Collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address. You may optionally provide your name.

Local data. Financial accounts, transactions, todos, ideas, car diagnostics, and other content you create are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data is not sent to our servers.

AI interactions. When you use AI-powered features, your prompts are sent directly to the AI provider you've configured (Google Gemini, OpenAI, or Anthropic) using your own API key. We do not route, store, or have access to these conversations.

On-device AI. When using local/on-device AI, all processing happens entirely on your iPhone. No data leaves your device.

OBD-II data. Vehicle diagnostic data read from your car's OBD-II port is processed locally and is only shared with your selected AI provider when you request a diagnosis.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect analytics or usage telemetry.
• We do not track your location.
• We do not access your contacts, photos, or files.
• We do not sell, share, or rent your data to third parties.
• We do not store your AI API keys on our servers.

3. Authentication

We use passwordless magic link authentication. When you sign in, a one-time link is sent to your email. We use Resend to deliver these emails. Your email address is stored in our database (Cloudflare D1) solely for authentication purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

The app may interact with the following services based on your configuration:

• Google Gemini API — if you provide a Gemini API key
• OpenAI API — if you provide an OpenAI API key
• Anthropic API — if you provide an Anthropic API key
• Resend — for sending authentication emails
• Cloudflare — for hosting our backend infrastructure

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your local data lives on your device and is protected by iOS encryption. Authentication tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain. Our backend uses Cloudflare Workers and D1 with encrypted connections.

6. Your Rights

You can:

• Delete your account at any time from the app's settings. This permanently removes your email and all associated data from our servers.
• Export your data — your data is stored locally, so you always have access to it on your device.

7. Children's Privacy

Al Butler is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email.
